Abbreviations
• SSK: Slip 2 stitches individually from the left to right needle as if to knit, pass the two
stitches back over to the left knitting needle, knit the two stitches together through the
back loop (1 stitch decrease – left-leaning)

• K2T: knit 2 together (1 stitch decrease – right-leaning)
Cast-On (Video Time 06:52)
Use the provisional cast-on method with waste yarn to cast on 44 stitches.
Row 1: Knit (Video Time 12:04)
Repeat Row
Slip the first stitch purlwise with the yarn in front, knit across
Continue working the repeat row until the work measures the Calculated Value from
the cast on edge.
*Note: After you have worked a few rows I recommend going back and checking your
cast-on edge to ensure you have 44 stitches on the opposite side of your cast on as well.

Decreases (Video Time 15:57)
Place a removable stitch marker on the side of the work that you will work across next.
The side of the work with the stitch marker will be where the decreases occur.
Decrease Row 1: Slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front, SSK, knit until 3 stitches remain, K2T,
knit 1
Decrease Row 2: Slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front, knit across
Continue repeating Decrease Row 1 and Decrease Row 2 until you have 4 stitches
remaining after completing a Decrease Row 1
Cast off the 4 stitches. (Video Time 18:55)
Second Half (Video Time 20:29)
Return to the cast-on edge and pick up the second side of the provisional cast-on by
following the waste yarn. Count the number of stitches picked up to ensure there are
44. Remove the waste yarn.
Knit 1 row.
Repeat the Repeat Row, Decreases, and Cast off as with the first half of the work.

Weave in Ends
Weave in the ends of your table runner. If you are adding pom poms to either end, do
not weave in the two cast off tails.
Block the Table Runner (Video Time 28:01)
For the table runner to lengthen it must be blocked.
I recommend using blocking mats and pins or a drying rack.
Optional: Pom Poms (Video Time 34:56)
Use a 2.7” (6.8 cm) pom-pom maker and coordinating or matching yarn to make one pom-
pom for each end of the table runner. Use the cast-off tails to sew the pom-poms in place.
