Bulky Knit Christmas Stocking
In this video I show how to knit an easy Christmas stocking out of super bulky yarn!
Gauge: 4 stitches = 2” (5 cm)
Finished Size
• Length: 18” (46 cm)

• US 15 (10 mm) 16” Circular knitting needle
• US 15 (10 mm) double pointed needles (or circular with longer cord for magic loop)
• Tapestry needle
• 2 Stitch Markers
Yarn
• Weight: Super Bulky (#6)
• 135 yds (123 m)
• Shown in Malabrigo Caracol Solis
Abbreviations
• w&t: wrap and turn
• SSK: slip slip knit (1 stitch decrease)
• K2T: Knit two together (1 stitch decrease)
Gauge: 4 stitches = 2” (5 cm)
Finished Size
Length: 18” (46 cm)
Width: 7” (18 cm)
Cast On (Video Time 2:59)
Cast on 30 stitches and join in the round.
Round 1: Purl
Round 2: Knit
Repeat Round 1 & 2 until the stocking measures 13” (33 cm) from the cast on edge.
Finish after a Round 1.

Toe Decrease Round 1: Knit 1, SSK, Knit 9, K2T, Knit 1 repeat (26 stitches)
Toe Decrease Round 2: Purl
Toe Decrease Round 3: Knit 1, SSK, Knit 7, K2T, Knit 1 repeat (22 stitches)
Toe Decrease Round 4: Purl
Toe Decrease Round 5: Knit 1, SSK, Knit 5, K2T, Knit 1 repeat (18 stitches)
Toe Decrease Round 6: Purl

Use Kitchener stitch to bind off remaining stitches.
Optional Finishing Details (Video Time 20:36)
o Fold cuff over 2” (5 cm)
o Using medium weight yarn, cast on 4 stitches and knit an 8” (20 cm) I-Cord on US
7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles
o Fold the I-Cord in half and seam to the inner corner of the stocking

Kitchener Stitch (Video Time 18:44)
Set Up 1: Thread the tapestry needle purlwise through the first stitch on the front
needle, leave the stitch on the needle
Set Up 2: Thread the tapestry needle knitwise through the first stitch on the back
needle, leave the stitch on the needle
Repeat Step 1: Thread the tapestry needle knitwise through the first stitch on the front
needle, slide the stitch off of the needle
Repeat Step 2: Thread the tapestry needle purlwise through the new first stitch on the
front needle, keep the stitch on the needle
Repeat Step 3: Thread the tapestry needle purlwise through the first stitch on the back
needle, slide the stitch off of the needle
Repeat Step 4: Thread the tapestry needle knitwise through the new first stitch on the
back needle, leave the stitch on the needle.
