Materials

  • Bernat Blanket Yarn - see table below to select your size and view the yardage requirements! Amazon LINK

    • Shown in the color: Whipped Cream

  • US 10.5 (6.5 mm) or 11 (8 mm) Circular knitting needle with at least a 40” cord - work a gauge swatch to select your desired knitting needle size! Amazon LINK

    • Note: this project is worked FLAT! The circular knitting needle helps to hold the large stitch count required for the blanket

  • Large Tapestry Needle Amazon LINK

  • Scissors

  • Tape Measure

Gauge

12 Stitches x 12 Rows in the basket weave pattern = 5.5” x 3”

50” Width x 60” Length

Cast On

Cast on 111 stitches using the backward loop cast on.

Setup Rows

Setup Row 1: *Purl 3, Knit 3*, repeat between the *’s until 3 stitches remain, Purl 3

Setup Row 2: Slip the first stitch, Knit 2, *Purl 3, Knit 3*, repeat between the *’s across the rest of the row

Setup Row 3: Slip the first stitch, Purl 2, *Knit 3, Purl 3*, repeat between the *’s across the rest of the row

Repeat Rows

Set 1 Repeat Row 1: Slip the first stitch, Purl 2, *Knit 3, Purl 3*, repeat between the *’s across the rest of the row

Set 1 Repeat Row 2: Slip the first stitch, Knit 2, *Purl 3, Knit 3*, repeat between the *’s across the rest of the row

Cast Off all stitch in pattern LOOSELY! Do not pull your stitches too tight or the top edge (cast-off edge) of the blanket will have very different tension to the bottom edge (cast-on edge).
